Canadian Green Energy Rebates 2026: Every Province Guide

Canada's rebate landscape changed significantly in 2024–2025. The federal Greener Homes Grant and Loan are both closed. But there are still billions of dollars in active rebates available — you just need to know where to look. This guide covers every active program by province as of May 2026.

What closed: Canada Greener Homes Grant (closed Feb 2024), Canada Greener Homes Loan (closed Oct 2025), iZEV EV rebate (replaced by EVAP Feb 2026), BC CEVforBC passenger EV rebate (paused), Ontario HER+ (replaced by HRS Jan 2025), QC Chauffez vert (closed March 2026).

Federal Programs (All Provinces)

EVAP — Electric Vehicle Affordability Program: Up to $5,000 for new BEVs, $2,500 for PHEVs. Applied at the dealership automatically. Replaced iZEV as of February 16, 2026.

Oil to Heat Pump Affordability Program (OHPA): Up to $10,000 for income-qualified households switching from oil to heat pumps. Available in BC, MB, NB, NL, NS, ON, PEI, YT.

Clean Technology Tax Credit: 30% tax credit on solar panels and battery storage systems. Active until 2034. Claimed on your tax return.

Ontario

Home Renovation Savings Program: Ontario's main program — up to $12,000 for heat pumps, $7,700 insulation, $10,000 solar, $100/window. Active through November 2026. Must be Enbridge Gas customer or on Ontario electricity grid. Visit homerenovationsavings.ca.

British Columbia

BC Better Homes — Home Renovation Rebate: Up to $16,000 for any income level. Heat pumps, insulation, windows, EV chargers. No pre-registration needed. Visit betterhomesbc.ca.

BC Better Homes — Energy Savings Program: Up to $19,000 for income-qualified households. Pre-registration required before work begins.

Quebec

Rénoclimat: Up to $3,500 for insulation, heat pumps, windows, air sealing, HRV. Requires pre and post-retrofit energy evaluation. No end date — currently accepting applications. Visit Quebec.ca.

Roulez vert: Up to $4,000 for new BEVs. Stacks with federal EVAP for up to $9,000 combined.

Nova Scotia

Efficiency Nova Scotia: Up to $15,000 for heat pumps, insulation, windows, water heaters. Free home energy assessments available. Visit efficiencyns.ca.

New Brunswick

SaveEnergyNB Total Home Energy Savings: Up to $15,000 including OHPA delivery. Heat pumps, insulation, windows, air sealing. Visit saveenergynb.ca.

PEI

EfficiencyPEI: Up to $12,000 for heat pumps (instant $900 point-of-sale rebate available), insulation, windows, furnaces, water heaters, HRV. Visit princeedwardisland.ca.

Newfoundland and Labrador

TakeCharge NL: Rebates for insulation (up to 75% of cost), HRV, air sealing, thermostats. Oil-to-electric incentive up to $22,000. Visit takechargenl.ca.

Manitoba

Efficiency Manitoba: Rebates for insulation, heat pumps, furnaces, windows ($300/triple-pane), thermostats ($50), solar ($0.50/watt up to $5,000). Income-qualified households may receive free upgrades. Visit efficiencymb.ca.

Saskatchewan

SaskEnergy Equipment Rebates: Rebates for high-efficiency furnaces, water heaters, and boilers. Visit saskenergy.com.

Alberta

Alberta has no active province-wide grant program. The main option is the Clean Energy Improvement Program (CEIP) — property tax financing up to $50,000 in participating municipalities. ENMAX and other utilities offer limited utility-specific programs.

Yukon

Yukon Home Energy Rebates: Up to $6,000 for insulation, heat pumps, furnaces, wood stove replacements, air sealing. Visit yukon.ca.
